Owner/director
Smooth Moves Dance has proudly served Bastrop County and surrounding communities for over 30 years. Under the direction of owner Lindsey Saunders, the studio is built on a strong foundation of dedication, hard work, and a commitment to our students and families. Our focus on quality dance education has earned both students and instructors recognition across Texas for excellence in technique, choreography, creativity, and performance.
Located in the heart of historic downtown Smithville, our studio features a spacious dance floor, high ceilings, and pine wood flooring designed with dancer safety and comfort in mind. We are also within walking distance of local shops, restaurants, parks, playgrounds, and other family-friendly attractions.
At Smooth Moves Dance, we are proud of the programs we have built and the community we serve. Our mission is simple: to inspire confidence, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for the art of dance.
Meet the Team
Meet Miss Hailey!
Instructor
Hailey is a Smithville grad and former Smooth Moves competition team dancer. After high school, Hailey was recruited to the LSU Color Guard, and obtained her undergrad in the Cajun state! She was even named Captain of the LSU Color Guard and performed all over in college stadiums!
Hailey is back in her home state teaching Kindergarten and is super excited to be back at Smooth Moves! She is an amazing dancer, teacher, and the kindest human you will ever meet!
We are so excited to have her on our staff!
Meet Mrs. Lara!
Instructor
Lara has been part of the Smooth Moves family since 2017. Originally from the La Grange area, she and her family live in Smithville, and her son also dances at Smooth Moves!
With a passion for all things performance art, Lara has been entertaining people for years. From performing at resorts as a young adult, to putting on variety shows at her church, to starring in the ensemble of Sister Act at the Bastrop Opera House, Lara has a talent for creating a fun, entertaining environment for all!
She will continue teaching Musical Theater for us and we are THRILLED!
Meet Mrs. Kevi
Assistant
Kevi, lovingly known as “Team Mom” at the studio, has been part of our Smooth Moves family for the past 10 years! She is from Smithville, and lives here with her beautiful family. Her daughter, Bexley, is one of our competitive dancers and even helps teach our littles!
When she isn’t at the dance studio or at one of her kids’ activities, she can be found helping in her various volunteer roles around town. Kevi is involved in many Booster Clubs and is always there to lend a hand when needed.
She is an integral part of the Smooth Moves family!
Meet the Team
Meet Mrs. Michelle!
Instructor
Michelle lives in Smithville with her husband, 23‑year‑old son, and 16‑year‑old daughter. She spent 19 years as an art teacher and now teaches in her backyard studio.
Michelle is a lifelong dancer and a true artist, who brings her passion for community building into everything she does. Her approach to teaching is rooted in building confidence, nurturing creativity, and creating a fun environment where every child feels celebrated. She can’t wait to share her love of tap with our students this season!
Meet Mrs. Chelsea
Instructor
Mrs. Chelsea joined the Smooth Moves team in 2025, but she was part of the dance family long before that. As a teenager, Chelsea danced on the Smooth Moves competitive teams and has always carried a love of dance with her throughout her life!
Chelsea and her husband, Stephen, have six beautiful children and live in Bastrop County. She is excited to be teaching our preschool dance class again this year!
Meet Miss Eliana
Instructor
Miss Eliana is a Smithville graduate and a Smooth Moves Dance Alum! Eliana dance with us all through grade school and competed on our competitive dance teams.
After graduation, Eliana went to San Marcos to attend college and found a studio where she taught for several years. Since moving back home, Eliana has been a substitute dance teacher for us, but we are excited to have her officially back at Smooth Moves as part of our staff!
